Originally from Glastonbury in Somerset, Stephanie graduated with a degree in Environmental Geoscience from the University of Bristol before choosing to follow a theatrical career. She began playing Piano at the age of 3, which has given her a very solid grounding in musical theory and musicianship. As well as attending various dance classes and joining amateur theatre groups, she took up Oboe and Singing lessons, both of which are now at grade 8 standard. She was also a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain for several years.
Eventually she felt compelled to turn her music and theatre hobbies into something more serious and after university she applied for drama school, securing a place on her first attempt. Stephanie spent a full year training professionally in Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
After ten years performing professionally across the UK, and around the world on cruise ships, Stephanie decided to embark upon a slightly more stable lifestyle following her other passion of science. She completed a second bachelors degree in Astrophysics in 2018, and has since also completed her Master's degree in Space Engineering. She now works during the week as a Mission Concepts Engineer for Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, where she has an exciting role in designing future space missions, and also has strong connections to the space industry and space agencies worldwide.
BUT of course she is still gigging as much as possible with her two Surrey-based bands, and is always looking to expand her performing.
Her gigs have taken her to all sorts of destinations worldwide, and she has performed musical genres from 60s to modern rock, swing to musical theatre and particularly, James Bond theme songs. Her favourite performing jobs to date include Cruising, and the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, where in 2010 she was delighted to be chosen to perform as a soloist for HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton on Royal Gala night. She has also been able to perform in West End Eurovision in both 2011 and 2012, and for Great Ormond Street Hospital, alongside the London cast of Phantom of the Opera.
Despite Stephanie's unwavering commitment to her joint-career in science and music, she also likes to spend time on other hobbies such as playing tennis, hiking, travelling, painting, gardening, and, of course, going to the theatre!
Stephanie also has a passion for communicating science and is currently looking to increase her skill set to include a current science news blog, and writing and presenting scientific articles for television.
